What is Advocacy Assembly?

Advocacy Assembly is a learning community for journalists and human rights activists, but anyone can join Advocacy Assembly and benefit from our courses.

Who should take Advocacy Assembly courses?

Our courses are perfect for anyone who wants to learn more about advocacy, data journalism, media outreach and design. Most of our classes are beginner level, and we’ll be adding more advanced courses soon.

How do I find a course to take?

You can view the featured courses on the homepage, or navigate to the Courses page using the main menu. You can filter the courses based on your interests. We’ll notify you of new courses via the mailing list when they’re added.

Who are Advocacy Assembly’s teachers?

Our teachers are industry leaders and experts from some of the world’s top advocacy and human rights organisations.

Will I get feedback from my teacher?

Advocacy Assembly is a self-study platform, so you won’t interact directly with a teacher. If you want to start a discussion or give us some feedback, we recommend checking out our Facebook page, Twitter account, or by using the Contact Us form.

How does Advocacy Assembly work?

Each class is made up of lessons and chapters. Lessons are short slides, videos, or quizzes, with a lot of audiovisual content and interactivity. You just need to select a course you’d like to study and enrol!

How do I start a course?

Once you’ve found the class you want to take, click the Enrol button on the top right. That’s it!

How do I manage my email notification settings?

If you'd like to unsubscribe from our newsletters, simply click the unsubscribe link at the bottom of the email you received. You can also update your email notification settings within your Email Notifications page in your account settings.

How do I send a referral invite?

We’d love you to share your Advocacy Assembly experience with your friends. Invite them to sign up for Advocacy Assembly by sharing your unique referral link located in the Referrals section of your account settings. We’ll be announcing exciting opportunities available to our top-referrers, such as one-on-one mentoring sessions with our teachers, a subscription to a neat piece of software to help you visualise your data or to a tool to help manage your social media accounts; or a voucher for buying ads on Facebook or Google and much more.
